CENTERING AN EXTRUSION NOZZLE USING A FIXED PIONE
The invention relates to the field of shoeing, that is to say the permanent assembly of several metallic elements, such as in particular the constituent elements of a motor vehicle body, and more particularly to the bonding of such elements.
Shoeing is an industrial process by which the different metal and composite parts of a motor vehicle are assembled. Many different techniques, including welding, can be used, but it is sometimes necessary to glue parts together, especially when it comes to composite parts. Gluing is carried out by an application installation by extruding one or more beads of glue on a part. The main difficulty of this technique lies in the correct positioning of the extrusion nozzle at the start of its path to deposit the bead of glue. Indeed, an offset of the nozzle, which can in particular be due to an impact with one of the parts to be glued, or to the change of the nozzle for example causes an offset of the nozzle relative to its reference position, which can lead to a spacing of the positioning of the cord assembly, and hinder or even prevent the attachment of the parts together. Thus, it is sometimes necessary to install a centering device on the installation, in order to be able to re-center the nozzle in the event of its offset.
The patent document published FR 2 959 427 A1 discloses a device and a method for centering an extrusion nozzle. The device has a cylindrical shape forming a hollow body in which slides, thanks to a spring, a ring. Thus, during centering of the nozzle, the latter descends into the hollow body. If the nozzle is already centered, it enters both the hollow body and the ring. In the case where the nozzle is off-center, it abuts against the ring. The latter then moves vertically downwards against the resistant force of the spring. The main problem with this mechanism comes from the sliding of the ring. Indeed, the nozzle can retain glue at its end which may, during centering, be deposited on the ring, and block the mechanism. The device is then expensive to replace, and its change results in a loss of time.
The aim of the invention is to overcome at least one of the drawbacks of the above-mentioned state of the art. More particularly, the invention aims to facilitate the centering operations of an extrusion nozzle on a sizing installation.
The subject of the invention is a method of centering an extrusion nozzle on an application installation by extruding one or more beads of glue on a part, said method comprising the following steps: (a) matching the extrusion nozzle with a centering device; (b) verification of an alignment between the extrusion nozzle and the centering device; (c) in the event of misalignment between the extrusion nozzle and the centering device, relative displacement of said nozzle and / or of said device so as to achieve alignment; remarkable in that the centering device comprises a pin with a tip-shaped end, and in step (a), the extrusion nozzle is arranged opposite the end of said pin.
According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, in step (a), the extrusion nozzle does not contact the end of the pin.
According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, step (b) comprises a visual verification of correspondence between the end of the pin and one end of the extrusion nozzle located opposite the end of said pin.
According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the installation comprises a robotic gripper of the workpiece, the centering device being mounted on the gripper.
Advantageously, the method further comprises a step, prior to step (a), of removing a removable protective cap from the end of the pin.
The subject of the invention is an application installation by extruding one or more beads of glue on a part, comprising: an extrusion nozzle; a workpiece gripper; a device for centering the extrusion nozzle, disposed on an element of the installation; remarkable in that the centering device comprises a pin with a tip-shaped end and fixed relative to the element of the installation, so as to allow an alignment check between the extrusion nozzle and the device centering by matching said nozzle opposite the end of the pin.
According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the element of the installation on which the centering device is arranged is the gripper of the part, said gripper being robotized.
According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the centering device further comprises a removable cap for protecting the end of the pin.
The subject of the invention is a device for centering an extrusion nozzle on an application installation by extruding one or more beads of glue on a part, said device being configured to be matched with the nozzle of 'extrusion to verify alignment with said nozzle; remarkable in that said device comprises: a pin with a tip-shaped end; and an interface for fixing said pin to an element of the application installation.
According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the fixing interface is a plate to which the pin is rigidly fixed.
According to an advantageous embodiment of the invention, the device further comprises a removable cap for protecting the end of the pin.
Advantageously, the pin comprises a lower portion able to be inserted into the fixing interface and / or into the gripper, a middle portion comprising at least one threaded zone, and a tip-shaped end. The threaded area of the middle portion of the pin is complementary to a threaded area in the hollow body of the removable protective cap.
The measures of the invention are advantageous in that they prevent the centering device according to the state of the art, that is to say comprising a hollow body with a moving part, from being blocked by the residual glue present on the nozzle tip. The invention also makes it possible to simplify the mounting as well as the centering of a glue nozzle with the device according to the invention. The device itself is less complex than the devices developed previously. The installation time of the device on the gripper is reduced due in particular to the lower number of parts constituting it. It is also less bulky and lighter. Its small footprint means that there is little risk of it interfering with the use of the device. No maintenance is necessary for the maintenance of the centering device. The manufacturing cost, due to the small number of parts and materials in common use, is not significant.
Other characteristics and advantages of the present invention will be better understood from the description and the drawings, among which:
- Figure 1 shows a view of an application installation by extrusion with a centering device according to the invention;
- Figure 2 is a diagram showing a sectional view of the centering device of Figure 1;
- Figure 3 shows the different stages of the centering process according to the invention.
Figure 1 shows an installation with a centering device according to the invention. The installation 1 allows the application by extrusion of one or more beads of glue to a part 6. The application of the bead or beads of glue will make it possible, during the shoeing step, to fix the parts 6, in particular for a motor vehicle, together. This installation 1 comprises an extrusion nozzle 3 which produces the bead of glue necessary for the gluing steps, and a gripper 5, preferably robotized, making it possible in particular to support the part 6 during the deposition of the glue. The gripper 5 includes fixing holes, these holes allowing the fixing of the centering device 7 according to the invention. The centering device 7 is generally composed of a pin 11 preferably mounted on a fixing interface 9, or plate. The interface 9 allows the fixing of said pin 11 to an element of the installation 1, preferably to the gripper 5. This fixing is preferably carried out by means of fixing elements 9A, more preferably fixing screws. The pin 11 is itself constituted by at least three portions: a lower portion (visible in FIG. 2), which allows the insertion of the pin 11 in the gripper 5 and / or in the fixing interface 9. A middle portion 11 B, preferably comprising a threaded zone, and an upper end 11 C in the shape of a point. The pin 11 is rigidly fixed to the fixing interface 9.
Figure 2 is a diagram showing the centering device according to the invention. In this figure, one can see fixing holes 9B of the fixing interface 9, which serve for the introduction of the fixing elements visible in FIG. 1. This figure also makes it possible to see a removable cover 13 for protecting the end 11C of the pin 11. This cap 13 comprises in its median part a tapped zone, 13A, complementary to the threaded zone of the median portion 11B of the pin 11, which allows the cap 13 to be mounted and maintained on the pin 11 when the centering device 7 is not used. Is also visible in this figure the lower end 11A of the pin 11, which can be seen in this case screwed into the fixing interface 9.
Figure 3 shows the different steps of the centering process of the extrusion nozzle using the centering device according to the invention. It is described in relation to Figures 1 and 2. The method comprises the following steps.
An optional preliminary step 101, of removing a removable cap 13 for protecting the end 11C of the pin 11, when the removable cap 13 is present on the device 7.
Then a step 103, of matching the extrusion nozzle 3 with a centering device 7. The extrusion nozzle 3 is arranged opposite the pointed end 11C of the pin 11, but without coming into contact with the end 11C of the pin 11.
A third step 105, of verification of the alignment between the extrusion nozzle 3 and the centering device 7. Preferably, the verification of the correspondence is visual between the end 11C of the pin 11 and the end of the nozzle 3 .
In the case where there is a misalignment between the extrusion nozzle 3 and the centering device 7, step 107, of inducing the relative displacement of the nozzle 3 and / or of the device 7 so as to reach alignment, takes place.
Finally, in the case where the extrusion nozzle 3 is correctly aligned with the centering device 7, the step 109 of gluing the parts 6 can begin.

Claims (10)

1. Method for centering an extrusion nozzle (3) on an application installation (1) by extruding one or more beads of glue on a part (6), said method comprising the following steps:
(a) matching the extrusion nozzle (3) with a centering device (7);
(b) checking of an alignment between the extrusion nozzle (3) and the centering device (7);
(c) in the event of misalignment between the extrusion nozzle (3) and the centering device (7), relative movement of said nozzle (3) and / or of said device (7) so as to reach the alignment;
characterized in that the centering device (7) comprises a pin (11) with a tip-shaped end (11 C), and in step (a), the extrusion nozzle (3) is arranged opposite from the end (11 C) of said pin (11).

characterized in that the centering device (7) comprises a pin (11) with an end (11 C) in the shape of a point and fixed relative to the element of the installation (1), so as to allow verification alignment between the extrusion nozzle (3) and the centering device (7) by matching said nozzle (3) opposite the end (11 C) of the pin (11).
